eh. i want to smash my face in with a mug of boiling coffee. they still haven't bothered to tell me if i can graduate next december or if im going to have to go another extra semester. because they're morons.
I'm actually working on a fountain right now, though I am not the primary designer. Though I will say I'm staying away from any of the actual construction of anything.
summer is shaping up to be fine, i've been wielding at Center Stage theatre downtown and soon I'm planning to build a fountain i think, back in harrisburg. One last project before i head back to school i think. Trying to get my stuff noticed on deviant art and the shroomery, know of any good posting forums for say... me?

greetings rear admiral captain commander conroy. how has your summer been? I work at RTKL now down in fells point. I suppose that makes me a "pro" as they say, whatever that may mean.
aw man, RTKL? My friend was supposed to get an internship with them, assisting their professional photographer. But their company took a different direction and didn't need him anymore!

hey duuude, yeah we did meet in phenomena of color briefly.
Many many students work digitally in the illustration department, but there is an overall faculty preference for traditional painting and printmaking processes. If your interest is in learning more ways of incorporating software into your workflow, then perhaps the animation department has the more relevant classes. However, I think you might be comfortable in the illustration department regardless of the analog media preference.
There are certainly classes that cover character and concept design, which are taught by brian ralph.
Also, Jose Villarubia, an illustration core staff member and comic book artist, is highly encouraging of fantasy work and concept work. Talk to him if you haven't already, as he can help you get started with making contacts for fantasy work.
You may hear stories about not being able to make money as an artist, but rest assured, if you can get a studio job doing character concepts or video game concept art, you pretty much don't have to worry about money.
from animationarena.com :
Artist: video game artist with 3 years or less experience make on average $42,512 a year. Game Artist with 3-6 years of experience average $55,594 a year and Game Artist with 6 or more years of experience average $64,870 a year.
Fantasy art is something to take seriously I think
thanks for the encouragment on my page. i think we met once in michelle's class.
i'm definitely interested in studying concept art for films/books/whatever, but i don't know what the level of interest there is at mica for it from either teachers or students - particularly in digital illustration. i signed up for it anyways but it might be full - what would you suggest?
judging by your gallery it looks there is LOTS of enthusiasm in your major, or maybe it's all you. super nice work with the airbrushing.
